This tasting takes place in a local tasting room; tequila itself is produced only in the regions protected by its denomination of origin, outside Cozumel. You taste certified expressions slowly, at room temperature and from a small copita.

The stop begins with blue agave and a plain-language explanation of cooking, fermentation, distillation and aging. You compare blanco, reposado and añejo, then try Xtabentún, a Yucatán liqueur traditionally made with honey and anise.

This is a complimentary tasting stop, included on selected tours and available subject to the venue's schedule. Bottles may be offered for sale, but there is no obligation to buy.

Highlights

  • Free of charge — included on our island and cultural tours
  • Guided flight of blanco, reposado and añejo
  • Taste Xtabentún, the Yucatán honey and anise liqueur
  • See a real blue agave heart and learn how it becomes tequila
  • Zero-pressure format: taste, ask questions, leave
  • Shaded, air-conditioned tasting room and clean restrooms
